A Bumpy Ride On The Poorva Express To Kolkata For A Photography Assignment

When I was a kid I used to hate travelling but I never knew that later it would become my life. As now I travel every week to places for my work and this time I got an assignment to cover the beautiful city of Kolkata. This city is one of the biggest cities in the world with over million people living in it, there are beautiful monuments and places to visit and capture along with beautiful people and rich culture and heritage that is well preserved by the “Bengalis” in the city.

So I was very excited as I was visiting this city of joy for the first time and would be staying there for a couple of weeks taking pictures. So I booked my tickets in the Poorva Express which leaves from New Delhi and booked for seats in the sleeper coach which is cheap and best for me. There are a lot of things that I enjoyed in the train, being a photographer I saw different things inside the train that taught me a lot and even captured them in my camera. So what all were the things that inspired me in the train.

My inspiration in the Poorva Express (12304)

This was not at all a normal journey for me as the first thing that I did was that I reached a little late to the station when the train was just about to leave. By god’s grace somehow there was some loading still going on inside the luggage van which made the train leave 5 minutes after the scheduled departure time. As I got into my coach I saw it full with passengers who were smiling at me as they saw me run like a phantom behind the train thinking it may leave. Then I went and took my seat and there it started regular vendors selling delicacies of the particular city or state that we were crossing.

Then the seat that I was sitting in was also very comfortable, my co-passengers were also very good and we started talking about everything from politics to social life and media. The good thing about Indians here is that we know to adjust very well so even I helped a lady who was expecting to be in the lower berth and I took her upper berth in the coach. I was happy to travel in the Poorva Express (12304) for the first time and we all reached safely the next day at 16:55 hrs.

Photography in Howrah Bridge Kolkata

My first place of interest here is just outside the station the majestic Howrah Bridge so I just got down from the taxi and decided to take a walk till the end of the bridge. So I spent time there till late night and finally left for the hotel Royal Garden to rest then the next morning I took off straight to the nearest locations to capture piks.

Indian Museum and Victoria Memorial

So I went to Indian Museum and Victoria Memorial the two historical places of Kolkata and the best thing is that I could take lots of photos as it was allowed there.
